The concept of instituting a toll on Interstate 80 will be the subject of a series of five open house-public meetings being conducted next week in communities along the I-80 corridor in southern Wyoming.
The I-80 Tolling Study is being undertaken at the request of the Wyoming Legislature, in response to projected shortfalls in revenue needed to maintain I-80 in the face of steadily increasing traffic.
One of the meetings is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 19, in Evanston, at the Uinta County Library, 701 Main Street. Other meeting sites during the week are Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins and Rock Springs.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., with an overview about the tolling study to be presented at 5:30 p.m., followed by questions from the public and open discussion. The overview will be repeated at 6:30 p.m., followed by another question and discussion session.
WYDOT representatives will be on hand to present information and answer questions. Interested persons may attend at their convenience during the posted times.
Comment forms will be provided at the meetings. Those unable to attend but wishing to comment may do so by submitting their comments to Tim McDowell, State Programming Engineer, WYDOT, 5300 Bishop Blvd., Cheyenne, WY 82009, or via email to: tollingstudy@dot.state.wy.us.
Detailed information about the I-80 Tolling Study, as well as an I-80 usage survey, is available on WYDOT’s Web site (www.dot.state.wy.us/wydot/planning_projects/studies_plans/I-80_tolling_study).
