Uinta County Candidate Forum @ City Hall
The Evanston Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a forum for candidates seeking a county-wide office who have opponents in the Primary Election. The forum will begin at 6pm at the Evanston City Council Chambers.

Four county offices will be involved in this forum, County Commissioner, County Attorney, County Assessor and County Sheriff.

W. Robert Stoddard, Mick Powers and Bruce R. Barnard are running as Republican candidates for county commissioner.  Two of the three will
advance to the General Election and face Democratic candidates Peggy L. Rounds and Richard Sather.

Thayne L. Peterson and Bill Combs are running as Democratic candidates for county attorney, while E. Dean Stout and Thomas E. Barnes are running as the
Republican candidates for the same office.  One Republican and one Democratic candidate will advance to the General Election ballot.  Mike Greer has withdrawn as the incumbent candidate for the office.

In the race for county assessor, Kathy A. Ball and Lori S. Perkins face each other on the Republican ticket.  One of them will be nominated to face Democratic challenger, Flora L. Deru in the General Election.

The county sheriff race could be decided in the Primary as Chet Alexander, Louis Napoli and Leonard C. Hysell are all running on the Republican ballot. One of them will advance to the General Election Ballot while no Democrat
filed for the office. Terry E. Brimhall (R) will be facing challenger Louis Defa (D) in the General Election for county treasurer.  Ann E. Lavery (R) will be running
against Steve Aaron (D) for clerk of district court.  Lynne D. Fox (R) is the only candidate who filed for the office of county clerk and Greg Crandall (R) is the only candidate for county coroner.

An additional forum will be held August 16th for Evanston City Mayor and Evanston City Council candidates.
Questions can be submitted by the public in advance.  The same questionswill be asked of each candidate seeking the same office.  Candidates will also have 2 minutes for opening remarks and 2 minutes for closing remarks.
KEVA radio has been asked to provide live broadcasting and the cable station has been asked to tape and re-broadcast the forum.  The Uinta County Herald will also report on the forums. All interested voters are encouraged to attend.  This may be your best opportunity to listen to the candidates and learn what they propose to do
for our community.  The forums will help you make your voting decisions at the Primary Election on August 22nd.
Questions for the candidates can be submitted in writing to the Evanston Chamber of Commerce in person at 36 10th Street, by fax at 789-4807 or
