The 7th annual Cinco de Mayo committee is organizing a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Monday, April 3rd at the Evanston Elk's Lodge from 6 to 8 PM. Tickets are $5.00 each or $20.00 per family. There will also be a silent auction with many items donated from Evanston businesses.
The Cinco de Mayo committee has selected Breanna Spaeth as this year's Fiesta beneficiary. Breanna is an 8th grade girl at Davis Middle School who has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. The proceeds from this year's fiesta will be donated to her family to help cover the costs of her medical bills.
This is the fourth year the Cinco de Mayo committee has selected a beneficiary as a way to give back to the community. The program has been extremely successful and many people have benefitted from the generous sponsors of the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. Past beneficiaries include Garrett Wharff, Alecia Hall, Jennifer Campos, The Evanston Fallen Firefighters Fund and the Julia Bond family. The committee feels very proud to be able to help the people of this community.
If you would like to become a sponsor, there are three levels of sponsorship: Bronze = $50.00, Silver = $100.00, Gold = $200.00. Please contact any member of the Cinco de Mayo committee if you have any questions regarding the fiesta, sponsorship, parade entries, salsa contest, booth space or the Spaghetti Dinner tickets. Committee members include Amy Velasquez (789-6031), Maria McIntyre (789-0105), Silvia Moore (789-0411), Cristina Ibarra (789-8024), Erika Pina (789-0370), Jan Poppe (789-4469), Lubia Olivas (783-6406), Cheryl O'Hara (789- 4041), Tiffany Zermeno (679-5813) and Teresa Escalante.
